The first knife in this image is the first one I made with a Frosts blade, about a month prior to the second knife in the image which is the one you've followed step-by-step through this website.

In the earlier handle, I did not use all the same species of wood for the five layers. Instead, I layered Purple Heartwood, Oak, Mohogany in the centre, then Oak and then Purple Heartwood again. This knife was not stained at all, so the colours you see are the actual colours of the wood. Four coats of Tung Oil have been applied.

Both handles were made to the same 'template' and both were made using the same technique. Obviously both have ended up with their own unique shape, but that's what happens when you make things by hand; each has its own character.
