Wicca (aka Witchcraft)

Yes, I am a Pagan

I was first drawn to the Old Religion while in high school. I began reading what books I was able to find; at that time it was primarily the works of Valiente and the Farrars that helped further my understanding. I quickly came to realize that my path lay with Wicca, and became initiated at the age of eighteen.

As I learned and progressed, I found that the spiritual and philosophical / religious aspects of Wicca have resonated for me more than ritual or spellcraft - although all facets have a place in my life. I am not out in the Circle every single Sabbat, often prefering to simply pay attention to nature and the yearly cycle with quiet respect. Although I am mostly a solitary practitioner, I have at times been a part of a small Coven. I was granted the very great honour of conducting the initiation of a dear friend.

I am fortunate enough to have a large somewhat-private backyard, where I have set up my Circle, with stones to mark the cardinal points and a permanent altar in the North. Working with the small Coven, I learned that outdoor rituals are far more powerful and effective (for us at least) than indoor ones.

Holy Goddess Isis, Mother of all beings, come into our hearts.
Grand us, Thy children, Love and Joy, Wisdom and Strength.
We offer Thee our loving care for all who are born of Thee.

Make a shrine to Isis in a temple: a room or in a corner of a room.
So shall your outer observance be a sign that you accept Her grace.
Wherever a Devotee places Her picture, Her statue, two candles,
incense and a cup of water, there shall She dwell. There shall Joy,
Health and Abundance be the gifts of Her eternal Love.
